Today's Fire Danger

Last Updated: August 13, 04:04 PM
The kind of fuel on our landscape, the amount of rain that falls, the direction of the wind, the daily temperature and relative humidity --all these factors help fire professionals determine what kind of fire danger exists in Missoula County during wildfire season. In times of high fire danger, even a small ignition can lead quickly to a catastrophic wildfire--particularly if your local fire agency is busy fighting a fire somewhere else. When fires occur at the fringes of our communities, where rural or wildland fire response is always limited, these ignitions can and do threaten and destroy family dwellings. Become a Firewise partner with the MCFPA. Learn how to prepare for wildland fire. Always use the burning permit system.
